What Kind of Fuel Does My Lincoln SUVs Require: Premium or Regular?
At Pine Tree Lincoln, we're fortunate to carry a variety of Lincoln SUVs. These models are upscale and modern, and many customers are drawn to these vehicles because of their strong performance. You can do a few things to keep your new Lincoln in prime condition, one of which is to use premium fuel instead of regular fuel.
Regular vs Premium Gas
While regular 87 or 89 gas is acceptable for use in a Lincoln SUV, it's recommended that you use premium gasoline. That's because premium fuel has a higher octane level. With a higher octane level, fuel can withstand higher compression before it detonates. In other words, it's less likely that detonation will occur at the wrong time when you use a high-octane fuel. If this premature detonation happens too often, your engine could suffer. Internal components could be damaged or worn down more quickly than they otherwise would.
Premium gas can ensure that a high-quality engine, like the Lincoln Aviator's twin-turbocharged V6 or the Lincoln Nautilus's turbocharged, 2.0-litre engine, can accelerate quickly, run smoothly, and enjoy an extended lifespan. This is why it's a good idea to use premium gas with an octane level of 91 in your Lincoln SUV. You'll want to protect your turbocharged or otherwise high-compression engine from damage that could potentially result from using regular fuel over an extended period.
